The University Grants Commission
(UGC) National Eligibility Test (NET) examination is conducted for determining
the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Assistant Professor only or Junior
Research Fellowship & Eligibility for Assistant Professor
Both in Indian universities and colleges. The Test is conducted in Humanities
(including languages), Social Sciences, Forensic Science, Environmental
Sciences, Computer Science and Applications and Electronic Science. The UGC NET
exam consists of three papers- Paper I, Paper II and Paper III. All the three
papers will consist of only objective type questions. The Paper I is general or
compulsory for all. The award of JRF and Eligibility for Assistant Professor
both OR Eligibility for Assistant Professor only will depend on the performance
of the candidate in all three papers of NET. However, the candidates qualifying
exclusively for Assistant Professor will not be considered for award of JRF.
The candidates are requires to obtain
minimum marks separately in Paper-I, Paper-UU and Paper-III as give below for
the award of JRF and eligibility for Assistant Professor.

Top 15% candidates for each subject
and category will be declared NET qualified for eligibility of Assistant Professor
only. A separate merit list for the award of JRF will be prepared from amongst NET
qualified candidates.
